Bonnet, rain, plastic, yellow sleeve, clear plastic bonnet inside, printed in goldtone- "Fern Van Alstine for Village Clerk" Fern Harrison Van Alstine Hill ran for Village Clerk in 1973. One hundred dollars was donated to her campaign fund. She used the money to purchase advertisements in the Elgin Daily-Courier newspaper and the purchasing and personalizing of rain bonnets. She did not win. In 1977 she ran for Village trustee and did not win.
