Print, photographic, 8" x 10", color, Front- Metra engine # 600 with passenger cars heading west through Bartlett, passing train station, automobiles and utility poles on both sides, water tower with "Bartlett" on it in background. Metra F40C #600 was passing through Bartlett on March 21, 1991 when this image was taken. At this time the rails were owned by the Soo Line Railroad. The engine was designed and built by the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors Corp and dedicated on April 6, 1974 as the Village of Bartlett engine #40 at Bartlett. It was the first of then 13 new locomotives secured by the Northwest Suburban Mass Transit District for use on the then Milwaukee Road's West Line. The engine is no longer in service. |
