Postcard, 5 1/2" l x 3 1/2" w, white paper, Front- image of a boy, right, and a girl, left, holding one pumpkin, printed in black ink "My Sincerest Wishes for Thanksgiving" Back- white space to write a note, printed in gray "Post Card...side, where stamp is placed- "Postage NOW one cent" This illustrated postcard was a perfect way to express your Thanksgiving sentiments to family or friends. Though unused and not dated, this "Made in U.S.A." postcard does offer a little hint to the era which it was produced. On the back, where you would affix the stamp, is printed, "Postage NOW one cent." The post card postage rate was increased from one cent to two cents from 1917 to 1919 and again in 1925 to 1928. In 1951, the rate was increased to 2 cents again. Based on the style of artwork, this postcard could date from right after 1919 or 1928. Based on the clothing the children are wearing, it is more likely it is after 1928. |
