It was a restaurant and gas station which opened around 1936, with Robert "Bob" Bourquin and his wife Irene becoming the proprietors, renaming the business Bob's Place and/or Bob's Lounge, and/or Bob's Cocktail Lounge. They sold the business in 1954 to Frank and Peter Ciacco and celebrated with a vacation back to their native Switzerland. The Ciaccos kept the Bob's name and Pete and his family lived initially above the business. Bob's Cocktail Lounge was closed by 1969 and the building has since been razed. The museum has three styles of these mirror/calendar/thermometers in the collection. It must have been a favorite of Bob's to give out to his customers. |
