Button, campaign, 2 1/4" diameter, metal/paper/plastic, Front- orange background, printed in blue, "Re-elect Koehler Mayor", back metal with pin back, white sticker- "AHH Buttons & Magnet 830-0892" Glen Koehler (1940-1998) served as Bartlett's village president from 1981-1989. During his tenure Bartlett grew from 13,254 to 19,373 residents, annexed land, looked for commercial and industrial development to add to the tax base, renovated the sewer system, began building bike paths, and more. Here are some interesting facts about Koehler. He was- -born and raised in Bartlett -attended Bartlett Elementary School, one of two village presidents to do so. Walter Meyer was the other person. -his grandfather Alfred Sodman was village president from 1932-1945. served as Lions Club president from 1976-1977 (pictured here). -Glen A. Koehler Fields of Bartlett, consisting of one football field and eight baseball fields, located near West Bartlett Road and Route 25, was dedicated in his memory in 2003. The " AHH Buttons & Magnets 830-0892" sticker is for Adams Hanson Hare according to Ernest Hanson. His mother Patti Enright Hanson ran Kohler's campaign and the family made the buttons on their kitchen table. |
