Description |
Clock, 15" diameter, aluminum, glass, metal, back lit advertising sign, 1 1/2" black numerals, "Elgin Watch" printed in black on glass face , "The Eck" in red peeling letters, Schoen's Old Lager Beer sign loose inside, electric cord, missing vent on back, wiring exposed, red second hand, black minute/hour hands, missing label on back, ink-stamped date "Jan 1955." The Eck, a restaurant and bar, was located at 121 W. Railroad Avenue. Its name, which means "the corner" in German, was in existence by the 1930s until the late 1980s and operated by several proprietors. This 15" diameter advertising clock was made in January 1955 by Pam Clock of America and personalized for businesses. The clock holds two light bulbs that illuminated the face when plugged in. It is not known if the Schoen's beer label was added by the manufacturer or later. Due to the heat of the bulbs, the label has slide down from its original location under the hands. Age and the heat of the bulbs have cause "The Eck" letters to curl. |
