Certificate, 9 3/4" w x 5 1/2" l, paper, Front- engraved decorative patterns, illustration of woman in upper left corner, along with number of member inserted in red ink, gold tone corporate seal on lower left, in black ink- "Bartlett Hills Country Club, This is to certify that," space for name, then continuing on in the certificate with statement on rules, etc, name is typed in "Orlo Salisbury" at bottom- signatures of club secretary and president, Back-engraved patterns in green ink, "For Value Received I hereby assign and transfer unto...", form has lines to fill in information. Elgin resident and automobile dealership owner Orlo Salisbury repurchased a membership in the Bartlett Hills County Club in 1927. He bought his first the previous year in 1926 when the club opened. The certificated is signed by Benjamin W. Landborg, club president and by Salisbury himself as club secretary. It is not known what was the cost of a membership. |
