Born and raised in Bartlett, Harvey Brandt (1903-1970) worked for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad Company from 1922 to his retirement in 1964. He began as a clerk in the Store Department at the Galewood Yard #1 and finished as the Assistant Superintendent Air Brakes in Milwaukee, WI. This federal income tax withholding statement from the Milwaukee Road is for 1946. During this time Brandt was employed as an "Air Brake Man & Checker" at the Galewood Yard # 1. Note that his wages for that year were $2,929.21 with a withholding tax of $310.11. |
