Poster, 20"w x 16" l, carstock, white, Front- drawing of seven stick figures holding hands, yellow arch, in red- Bartlett Illinois over/under yellow arch, four trees, wheat stakes, red train engine, Back- attached to left side- hand written poem explaining the symbolism on the front, artist name/address/phone/age/school on separte label. In 1976, the Village of Bartlett held a contest for students to design the village's first flag that would fly over Bartlett during 1976, the nation's Bicentennial year. More than 30 students entered the contest. Judging was done by Judy Szajek, chairperson of the Bartlett Bicentennial Commission and Corrine Loeh, art director for School Distirct U-46. This illustration, created by then 12-year-old Anne Lucietto of Eastview Jr. High School, was awarded third place. The students' flag designs were saved by then Village President William Tiknis, who gifted the entries to the museum in 2011. In 2024, Anne Lucietto, upon learning artwork had be saved recalled, "How cool is that! I remember really mulling this over. My great uncle worked on the railroad and we moved in when the population was 3000. I had family members from both sides of my family! They all still live there." |
