Ralph Watermann (1918-1995) first served as Bartlett's acting postmaster from January 1, 1941 to June 27, 1941. Beginning June 2, 1949, he assumed the role of postmaster a job he held until November 29, 1972. He sent this holiday greeting to his postal customers in 1950. During his tenure as postmaster, the post office was located at 124 W. Bartlett Avenue and then moved to its then new freestanding facility located at 301 W. Railroad Avenue which it operated out of until the early 1980s. The postcard to addressed to lifelong resident Harvey Brandt and his wife Elvina. Notice no address or P.O. Box number was necessary! In 1950, Bartlett's population was only 700 residents. Elvina used the card to write some notes on that appear to have something to do with the township and perhaps taxes owed on their Bartlett home. |
