Scrapbook, 28" w x 22 h, poster board with metal clamps, 13 sheets, newspaper clippings of fire department, business and general news of Bartlett. Newspaper clippings are taped to poster board, first page covered with plastic wrap. Tom Marth (1942- 2002), was a Bartlett businessman and a volunteer firefighter for 17 years. He created this scrapbook to preserve some of the clippings of the Bartlett Volunteer Fire Department's festivals and fires they fought. He also clipped "Business Portraits" a feature in the local paper which highlighted Bartlett businesses in the late 1960s through early 1970s. Tom was photographed for a "Thurnau & Benicke" portrait which he began working at in 1965.He father-in-law, Fred Benicke owned the business which Tom purchased in 1980 changing the name to Tom's Auto Service. The business was sold and razed due to the building of the Town Center. |
