Planning for a summer getaway? How about a resort in Wisconsin? Lifelong Bartlett resident Harvey Brandt (1903-1970) and his wife, longtime resident Elvina Ness Brandt (1902-1996) once owned Brandt's Resort in Heafford Junction, WI from around 1957 to 1970 or so. Did your family ever stay there? It was located on the 2,274-acre Lake Nokomis which is still perfect today for fishing and boating. Harvey worked for the Milwaukee Road, was a member of the Bartlett Lion's Club and one of Bartlett's first Boy Scout leaders. Elvina, born in North Dakota, came to Bartlett in 1926 and began her 47-year teaching career at Bartlett School where she was a beloved educator and one-time principal. She met Harvey in Bartlett and the couple was married in 1930. |
