Card, greeting, 5 1/2" l x 4" w, cardstock, Front- black and white photo of a house in snow, written in blue-"Merry Christmas +" and "Mrs. Heine & Laura", printed in black-"Happy New Year", illustration of 1956 calendar with image of a baby and a quill is covering part of the calendar, Back- written in black- "Hickory" Caroline Heine (1879-1970) and her daughter Laura Heine (1906-1979) sent this holiday greeting with calendar in 1955. Their home pictured here is located at 244 S. Hickory Avenue in Bartlett. As of 2024, the home is still standing. The Heine family were the second owners of the home, built in 1907, buying it from the John Schultz family. Henry W. Heine Jr.(1878-1926), Caroline's husband and Laura's father was living at the time of purchase around 1917 or so. When Caroline was no longer able to go upstairs, an addition was added to the front of the house. It is presumed the addition was added about 1955 and this image was sent to show friends and family the new look of the home. After Caroline's passing, Laura finally married longtime beau, Walter Schultz (1898-1972). He moved into this home. The home was sold after Laura's passing. |
