Postcard, 3 1/2" x 5 1/2", paper, front- cream to pink color roll on which is embossed, "Greetings from _______ Illinois" and a roses and leaves, written in red on the banner is "Bartlett." Back- written in pencil, "Send me a postal to. Be sure and come Sunday because ma is going to Elgin so I won't have to be alone. Zenetta" Addressed to "Miss Clara Roebbeke, Ontarioville, Ill." A one cent stamp with the image of Bejamin Franklin is affixed. Handcancelled on May 14, 1910 in the PM. Zenetta could be Zenetta Stumpf, a Bartlett resident who was 13 years-old in 1910. Her father owned the general store in the Village. Perhaps he stocked this postcard. Clara Roebbeke was 12 years-old and living in Hanover Township in 1910. |
