Card, greeting, 4 1/2" w x 3 1/2" h, cardboard, Front- color illustration of child writing verse on blackboard with hearts on left side, striped wall on lower portion, Back- written in ink- To Miss Ness From Genevieve, Made in USA" Elvina Ness Brandt (1902-1996), one-time teacher and principal at Bartlett School, saved many of the valentines she received from her students throughout her 47-year teaching career. This late 1920s card was given to her by Genevieve Bowman one of her early students upon beginning her tenure at Bartlett School in 1926. Do you think the verse is still relevant today? |
