Beret, size small, wool, green, patch- Girl Scout (logo), with the letters "GS" sewn in white on green background, fabric label- "Girl (logo) Scouts, small, 0-144. $1.50" Dee Ann Dixon Speece began her scouting years as a Brownie at Bartlett School. In the 1963-1964 scout year she was a junior scout in Bartlett School's Troop 452, along with 29 other girls, under the leadership of Novella Sorensen. Their service project occurred in December with each scout purchasing a gift that was sent to residents of Dixon and Lincoln state schools. For Girl Scout Week, they made posters and placed them in local store windows. With some of the profits from their cookie sales, the troop took a Gray Line tour of Chicago wearing their uniforms which included the green felt beret. |
