Postcard, 3 h" x 5 w", sepia, Front- facade of front and wing style home with two bay windows, picket fence, street lamp, dirt street, trees, outbuilding in back on right, partial view of another building on left, three people standing outside, one person looking out window, horse by outbuilding, tape residue in three places. Postcard image of the John J. O'Brien home that once stood on Railroad Avenue at Block 6, lot 1, W 58 ft. Left to right, standing outside are daughter Della O' Brien, her father John J. O'Brien, and her mother Sophia O'Brien. The woman in the window is not identified. This is how the home originally looked before its renovation by the O'Brien family. John, a cattle dealer, was elected Bartlett's village president in 1911 and served until in death in office in 1928. He was the first village president to die in office. The home was razed in the early 1960s to make way for a telephone exchange facility, today operated by AT & T. |
