Tag, identification, 1 1/2" h x 1" w, metal, Front-small hole at top, engraved "Dog Tax 23 1923 Bartlett 6, Back- nothing On April 15, 1895, the Village Board approved Ordinance #48 concerning dogs. One section stated that an annual license of $1 would be required for every dog within the Bartlett corporate limits. In today’s money that is equivalent to about $26. Each May it was the duty of the street commissioner to compile a list of dogs and their keepers. The list was then submitted to the Village Board each June, who in turn gave the list to the Village treasurer for collection of payment. In 2019, the ordinance was repelled. Bow Wow! |
