Badge, 7 3/4" x 2 3/4", beige silk ribbon with goldtone fringe on bottom, stick pin back, red, white and blue ribbon bow attached to top. Printed in goldtone, "Independence Day, July 4th 1904, Bartlett,Ills." Decorative design above and below words. Badge was manufactured by L. Helwig & Co., Badges, Flags and Banners,182 Madison St., Chicago. Label appears on back. The Cook County Herald reported on July 8, 1904, "The celebration at Bartlett was a success every way, weather, the crowd large and everybody had a good time. Bartlett people know how to get up a good celebration that never ends to draw a crowd. Good speakers are always provided, the music, games of all kind for old and young, good order is maintained and people coming to Bartlett once are sure to come again." |
