Basket, 12 1/2"h x 10 1/2"w x 15 3/4"l, willow, natural, double bottom with handle. The Schick farm, once located on Schick Road, was established in 1865 by Gottlieb and Christina Schick. It continued operating through four generations until Louis and Gladys (Schick) Humbracht sold the remaining property, outbuildings and farmhouse to Poplar Creek Church. This double bottom basket was used to collect the eggs on the farm. The unique design kept the eggs from rolling and breaking while in the basket. |
