Hat, campaign, size 6 7/8, brown, felt, ribbon band around crown with tonal BSA logos on it, ribbon bow, crown has three eyelets/vents with four dents at top, brim has two eyelets for chin strap to pass through and tie on brim, stamped on interior sweat band- "Boy Scouts of America, logo, Official Hat", black size sticker- "6 7/8", cream bow- indicating back of hat, under sweatband, attached to interior crow, sticker - "G. W. Alexander & Co., Inc. Reading PA., Style 340", on front of crown attached by metal pin and screw- three green bars (two long, one shorter) and BSA trifoil with words "Be Prepared." The pin on the crown symbolizes Ralph Andreasen was senior patrol leader at the time he wore this hat. He earned that rank in February 1940. Andreasen was the first Bartlett person to become an Eagle Scout, though in an Elgin troop. He earned his Eagle rank in 1947 after serving in WW II. At that time there was no age limit. |
