Image, digital, black & white, Front-nine adults, 2 women and seven men, and two boys standing outside in snow, one man is holding shovel and digging. Parishioners were elated when ground was broken on Thanksgiving Day 1949 for the construction of St. Peter Damian Catholic Church. Rev. Thomas Horne, fifth from right, turns the shovel on that snowy day. Masses were first held in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Albert Buerger and later in a chapel constructed in their wood working factory once located on Main Street. The first mass was held in the completed church in September 1950.
