Print, photographic, 4 1/2" x 3 1/4", black & white, Front- five men in work clothing standing in front of piece of machinery. Back- written, "Left to right here we have the boys of the Bartlett Imp. Co. Bartlett ILL. "Russ" Porter, dealer, Vernon Stark, serviceman, Joe Stark, William Baxmann dealer, Al Krumfuss dealer" In red ink- * with a circle around it "Snapshot #2314", Stamped- "Used in 'News Letter' Vol. 14 No. 10 Date Feb. '43" Meet the dealers and workers of the Bartlett Implement Company once located at 120 W. Bartlett Ave. This image appeared in the John Deere company newsletter. The business opened in 1941 by Ed Krumfuss after he broke up his business relationship with Ed Thurnau. They owned Thurnau and Krumfuss Implement on Main Street. The dealership remained in operation until 1971 when they closed and held a close out auction of stock. The company's stock of machinery was housed on the north side of the tracks where Bartlett Ave. ended at Eastern Ave. Today the land is a commuter parking lot. |
