Right On April 30, 1978, Bartlett resident and photographer Wesley Hendrickson took this image from Railroad Avenue looking south down of Main Street. At that time, on the left was the Set Screw & Manufacturing Co., Flex-Weld, Inc. and the Arco gas station. Today this property is the site of the Town Center which open in 2005, 20 years ago. On the right, was the then Illinois Bell facility built in 1962, today known as the AT & T building. The community events sign, gift of the Bartlett Kiwanis Club, stood on their property letting residents know what was happening in the village. Continuing down the street, by the flagpole, but not visible, is the village hall. Homes, since razed, lined the street beyond the hall. At that time, Railroad Avenue ended at Main Street and was opened to Prospect Avenue in 2005 with the building of the Town Center. |
