Back- written in pencil, "Hoosier Grove, rural Cook Co, IL, Hanover Township after the tornado" Just before noon on Palm Sunday, March 28, 1920 severe thunderstorms began to form 50 miles west of Chicago which spawned tornadoes. One tornado passed through downtown Elgin where it destroyed many buildings and killed eight people. The F3 tornado moved to the east where it destroyed farms and more buildings as evident in this image taken in Hanover Township's Hoosier Grove area, today Streamwood. |
