Transparency, slide, 2" x 2", color, woman holding camera, standing barefoot on box, is taking picture of man wearing white shirt, brown pants and cap. In background, two buildings, one is old with stone foundation and clapboard second story, other is red brick and under construction. Say cheese! Members of the Bartlett Volunteer Fire Department were all smile when it came to having their portraits taken for a 1967 advertisement for their upcoming then 30th annual summer festival held on August 12-13. The unknown photographer is holding the latest version of a Polaroid camera. To get that added height, she is standing on a Schlitz beer box. The volunteer fireman is standing in front of Bartlett's original village hall on which construction began in 1894. The window on the first floor, with the bars, was one of two jail cells. The hall was razed in 1968. The red brick building, under construction, was Bartlett's new village hall which was dedication on May 31, 1968. It has since been razed and replaced. All the versions of Bartlett's village halls have been located on the same property. |
