Description |
Print, Photographic, frame- 9 1/4" w x 7 1/4" h, image- 7" w x 5" h, black & white, Front- Man with kittens in kitchen, cabinets and soup in background, back- Bartlett Historical Society stamp, "3/18/75, by Chester Marxen Family." in pencil- "Mr. Bull" (this is incorrect, not Mr. Bull) Perhaps Hugo Rudlinger (1890-1939), pictured here, used natural means to control unwanted pests in his Hugo's Tavern's kitchen such as these adorable kittens. The tavern was located at 121 W. Railroad Avenue and was razed in 2018. The museum has a duplicate of the image signed by Hugo Rudlinger to his landlord and "old college chum" Elmer H. Schick. Rudlinger apparently had a good sense of humor since he or Schick never attended college. Rudinger operated his tavern from about 1933 until his passing in 1939. |
