Print, photographic, 8" w x 4 3/4" h, black & white, Front- single story brick building with pitched roof in center, located on street, two pine trees in front, trees in background, partial view of buildings on left and right. On May 23, 1965, Immanuel United Church of Christ dedicated its educational building (pictured center here) with a special church service. Located just west of the church (on left) on North Avenue, ground was broken for the building in March 1962 with the cornerstone being laid on October 11, 1964. The building was designed by Holland & Steed of Deerfield, IL and John Lindstrom, Inc. of Arlington Heights was the general contractor. It houses the church's offices, assembly room, restrooms, kitchen, multi-purpose room, classrooms and a storage area. The building cost more than $100,000 to build. The Reverend William Nagy was the minister at that time and Robert Bender, member, was chairman of the Building Committee. A dedication banquet was held on March 28, 1965 for members of the congregation and invited guests. Immanuel United Church of Christ is Bartlett's oldest continuing congregation chartered in 1891. The church is located on the southwest corner of North and Western Avenues. |
