Print, photographic, 8" x 10", black & white, Front- women playing basketball inside with referee and people sitting in chairs along wall in background, Back- stamped- "Photography by Don Honick" and "Mar 20 1959", written in pencil "54" The match-up between the Cub Scout moms and Brownie moms, was the first of two fundraiser basketball games played on March 20, 1959 at Bartlett Elementary School. Here, Dorothy Peterson (facing camera, plaid sleeveless shirt with peddle pushers, Cub Scout neckerchief) is going for the ball while referee and Principal Robert Hardt (ref shirt, whistle in mouth) watches for any fouls! The Cub Scout moms won and a trophy was presented by then Village President John Buelting to Ruby Roth. The second match-up was between the Bartlett Lions Club and the Bartlett Volunteer Firemen. The Lions won! Afterward, doughnuts and coffee were served at the Fire Barn with all proceeds going to the Cub and Brownie funds. |
