Description |
Print, photographic, 5 1/2" w x 3 1/4" h, sepia, Front- three women, two babies sitting on blanket, outside, home to left, barn and outbuilding in background, trees. Look at the camera! More than 100 years later, this directive is this being given to little ones today. Note the woman on the right is pointing to the photographer encouraging the baby to look that way. It was a beautiful day for an outdoor playdate in the Schnadt family's backyard. Lydia Schnadt Humbracht Heinberg, left, is keeping a watchful eye on her son Earl born on May 8, 1918. Her sister, Estella Schnadt, middle, and an unknown woman and baby, right, join in the fun on a soft blanket. As of 2022, the Herman Schnadt family home, located at 147 N. Oak Avenue, still stands today. So does the large two-story barn in the background. Herman had the home built in 1911 in his subdivision, the H. N. Schnadt Subdivision, recorded in 1909. The DuPage County Register reported in July of that year, that Schnadt was "nearly finished clearing trees and will now set men at work grading the streets in Schnadt's Subdivision." |
