Image, digital, sepia, Front- clapboard, single/double story home surrounded by trees, one man, woman and child. three total, stand on front stairs. Carpenter Friedrich C. Watermann Sr. built a family home at 211 W. Railroad Avenue, pictured here, in the 1880s. The structure is a gable-front and wing style, which was typical of the expanding Midwest during this time period. Frederich's daughter Clara, shown here with her husband Herman Bartelt and son Elmer, lived in the home briefly after her marriage. As of 2023, the structure still stands and is a retail store and resturant. |
