Print, Photograph, 3 1/2"l x 5"w, black and white, Front- buildings in snow with railroad semaphore signal, flag pole and car. Back- written in pencil, "Dec 26-1949" It was a snowy holiday when this image was taken from Oak Avenue looking southwest. The former general store (two-story building) once located at the southwest corner of Oak and Railroad Avenues is in background. A banner above the entrance read, "Lions Club Dance." Two parked two cars are near it. The Bartlett train depot, center, still had its semaphore signal and passenger shelter. At this time, Bartlett Avenue to the west of Oak Avenue had not been built. The land was being used as a park with a flag pole and the then Village Christmas tree (center). On the right, in the background, is the former Watermann family home located at 211 W. Railroad Avenue. |
