Print, photographic, 7" w x 5" l, color, Front- three men standing outside in front of sign board that reads- "Bartlett Community Events, Kiwanis Thanks Illinois Bell for the Location", buildings in background, Back- nothing. The Bartlett Kiwanis Club was initially formed on November 1, 1962, and received its charter on January 4, 1963. Early members, which at that time was a male only organization, included Bruce MacDonald, George Lambie, Wayne Arter, Bill Taylor, William Sheehy, Arthur Kay, George Pratt, Warren Knowles, Bob Van Alstine, Arthur Weiher, Lyle Edwards, Lenard Gardner and others. Some of the club’s fundraisers included peanut day sales, a pancake breakfast and Valentine Day dance with profits to support civic and youth projects. The club was involved in the creation of a baseball diamond in Leiseberg Park and the purchasing of a community events sign board, pictured here. The sign was once located at the corner of Railroad Avenue and Main Street on the then Illinois Bell property, today AT& T. Left to right are Henry Paustenbach, Bill Tiknis and Bob Molitor. Kiwanis International does not know the year this version of the club ceased. In 2024, it was announced the Bartlett Kiwanis Club was looking to reorganize. |
