Description |
Print, photographic, sepia, Front- five men, two horse drawn wagons outside a building with signs that read, "Schnadt & Co., Peter Hand Fine Beers, The Ontarioville," other buildings in background. Herman Schnadt (1869-1958) operated several business ventures throughout his lifetime. He was in the auction business, sold insurance and property, was one of the founders of the Bartlett State Bank and one-time owner of the Bartlett Tavern beginning in 1905. Prior to the Schnadt's family move into Bartlett in 1905 they lived close by in Wayne Township, DuPage County. Ontarioville, today Hanover Park, is a village just to the east of Bartlett. From the sign it appears Schnadt could have operated a tavern in this community before their move. |
