Image digital, black & white, Front- 14 women sitting/standing in two rows, inside, wearing long dresses with corsages, written in ink- "Ushers for factory doings, Elgin Watch Factory," arrow pointing up- "Grandma Behm" This photo was published in the Elgin National Watch Company's magazine "The Watch Word" in January 1950. The young ladies were "usherettes" at the factory's Christmas concert presented in the Masonic Temple on December 13, 1949. Bartlett native Marilyn Schult (1928-2013), front row fourth from left, labeled as "Grandma Behm" was employed in factory's shipping department. In 1950, Marilyn married Robert Behm. The names of the other ushers are unknown. |
