Image, digital, sepia, Front- man wearing dark suit standing next to woman in long black dress wearing a hat, she has her hand on his arm, printed at bottom, "Beals, 23 Douglas Ave., Elgin, Ills." Written in pen on paper below- "Frederick & Wilhemena Ackman, Born in Germany, Parents of Minnie Ackman, Grandparents of Alice Larson" Frederick Ackmann (1846-1921) and his wife Wilhelmina "Minnie" Bierberg Ackmann (1841-1920) where both born in Germany and immigrated to the United States. He in 1861 and she in 1866. The couple was married in 1867 and had five children. Their daughter Minnie, born July 25, 1880, was listed as being born in Bartlett. In looking at census records, the family, who were farmers, lived in Hanover Township, possibly around Ontarioville, today Hanover Park. By the 1920 census, Frederick and his wife Wilhemina were living in Elgin. The couple, along with other family members, including daughter Minnie, are buried in Elgin's Bluff City Cemetery. The spelling of their names in this descriptive section has been taken from their headstones. |
