Print, photographic, 8" x 10" border, 6 1/2" x 8 1/4" sepia image showing nine men sitting on a railroad handcar with one gentleman standing next to it. Men are presumed to be a railroad section gang of the Milwaukee Road. Bartlett's Fred Olhaber was a foreman of a section gang that took care of the Milwaukee Road tracks between Spaulding and Ontarioville (today Hanover Park). Ohlhaber is presumed to the man with the turned up brim hat in the front row. He was paid $65 a month. Before there was a church in Bartlett, the Olhaber family attended church in Ontarioville and used the railroad handcar to travel there and back. |
