Side 2- three men, 2 facing camera, one with back, standing in booth, sign reads "10 cents a Game" tickets hang in row from roof, ads for Kerbers ham in background. Holes punched for spiral binding, missing The annual Bartlett Volunteer Firemen's Festival, which ran from 1938-1969, was a much anticipated and well attended August weekend event in Bartlett Park. The fundraiser for the department included carnival rides, bands, food, bingo and other games of chance. Bartlett resident Don Honick, a professional photographer, took the images of the festival and created a spiral bound book. Side 1- Erwin Schultz, one-time Bartlett rural mail carrier, is calling the Bingo numbers at the Firemen's Festival. The roller cage, filled with bingo balls is in front of him. Some of the prizes are stacked in front of him and appear to be a hassock and hamper. Notice he set his hat on top the hassock. Side 2- The Ham Stand game gave festival goers the opportunity to win a Kerbers ham, only ten cents a game! Volunteer Fireman Al Fraas, first on left wearing uniform, is manning the stand with another gentleman, name unknown. The man with his back to the camera is also unknown. The advertisements claimed that the ham "Puts Pep in Your Step." |
