Image, digital, black & white, Front- people riding small Ferris wheel outside, people in background. The once annual Bartlett Volunteer Fire Department's summer festival was the most eagerly awaited event of the year. Held over a weekend in August in Bartlett Park, it included games, rides, music, dancing and beer. The festival was held from 1938-1969 and it was the largest fundraiser for the department. It's the early 1940s and Elva Scollay Darling (1923-2007), checked shirt, left, and William Darling (1924-1993), white shirt, right, are enjoying the Ferris wheel while two unknown young girls look down from above. Elva married William's brother Wallace Darling in February 1943. |
