Doug PlesKovitch, right, is all smiles after getting his hair cut and styled by John Schmitt, left, owner of John's Barber Shop first located at 117 W. Railroad Avenue. The barber shop opened in 1960 and was convenient for clients being right in the heart of Bartlett. In 1962, John's son Mike joined the business. The shop moved in 1973 to then Bartlett's first shopping center on Main Street. Its second address was, 318 S. Main Street. A name change to VIP Barber Shop also took place at that time. As an adult, Doug fondly recalls the distinct smells of the shop which included hair tonic, products and more! |
