Print, photographic, sepia, 4 1/4" x 3 1/4", 10 men standing in front of threshing machine in a field setting. Fred Hecht Jr, (1883-1942) tallest man standing on thresher wheel with left hand on hip, was a Hanover Township farmer. His threshing business, pictured here with his crew, would travel from farm to farm to help in harvesting crops. The Hecht farm was once located on Irving Park Road. The family lost the farm in the Great Depression. Fred, his wife Amanda and children Elmer and Evelyn, then moved into Bartlett and lived on Railroad Avenue. |
