Image, digital, black & white, Front- man standing inside in front of backdrop wearing US Army uniform, person standing next to him has been cropped off. George Rieckhoff Jr. (1918-1982) served in WW II. He entered into the US Army on September 30, 1944 and was discharged on March 12, 1946. He obtained the rank of technician sergeant. Married to Jeanette, he was already a father by his enlistment. After the war and for several years, George operated "The Eck" Tavern, once located on the southeast corner of Railroad and Oak Avenues, calling it Rieckhoff's German Corner. Eck means corner in German. |
