Image, digital, black & white, Front- Young woman standing inside, against a piece of furniture wearing long gown. With WW II raging, then Elaine Jensen Atchison, pictured here, remembered how challenging it was to find a prom date with all the young men in service. She went to her 1942 Elgin High School senior prom with an uncle who wasn't that much older then her. Elaine had local photographer Paul O'Brien take several pictures of her in her prom gown including this one. The flowy voile gown had covered buttons down the bodice and a double collar. In 1945, Elaine married fellow Bartlett resident, Elgin High School graduate, and WW II Navy serviceman Melbourne Atchison. |
