Print, photographic, 5"w x 7" l, black & white, Front- 10 people, (4 women and 6 men), sitting at desks with paperwork/office supplies, inside office room, in background- file cabinets, doors, cabinet, written on lower left (on negative)- "Asst. to vic pres, claim prevention CM&ST Paul RR" John Werden (1917-1997), third row from front, second from right, is sitting at his desk and surrounded by other employees of the Milwaukee Road. Werden retired in 1980 as chief clerk of the Freight Claim Prevention Department after 38 years of service with the railroad. Werden was employed by the railroad before and after his WW II Naval service (July 1942 - February 1946). This image was most likely taken after his discharge and dates to the late 1940s. All others are unknown. |
