Book, 8" w x 8" h, 27 pages, full color, This book celebrates the Florida Mediterranean Revival home of Attorney Charles Erbstein and his wife Olivia. The Erbsteins built Villa Olivia, today located within Bartlett, in 1915. In 1920, they bought a "one-story bungalow on the south side of Australian Avenue, Royal Park...for $9,000." The home was designed and built by Ernest Walton Sr. This book tells the story of the Erbstein family at Villa Olivia and their Florida home located at 123 Australian Avenue. The author, Kim Coventry contacted the Bartlett History Museum for information on the Erbstein family. The image of the Villa Olivia estate (on page 6) once located off Lake Street, was provided by the museum. Today the former estate is part of the Bartlett Park District's Villa Olivia property. The Erbstein mansion no longer exists. It was buried inside the ski hill constructed by former owners of the property. |
